Mel Kelly

Mel Kelly, aka recyclopath, is one of the new generation of artists known as 'slashies' - artists who have successful careers in many genres. Despite growing up in small town isolation, suffering from depression and experiencing prejudice, Mel Kelly (aka Recyclopath on Myspace) has emerged as a visual artist, a spoken word poet, costume (most recently for Helen Vicqua's play Death In Heaven) and textile designer, performance artist, sound artist and a Myspace blogging identity.

She believes in constantly pushing the boundaries of the concepts of morality and taste, thus embracing the punk aesthetic. She appeared in two Trasharama Film Festival films in 2008 and regularly performs poetry for Hard Boiled, Paroxysm Press, and at punk music gigs.

Mel is currently a visual arts student at Adelaide Centre fr the Arts, a member of Mad Women, and a seedling in Preparing the Garden.
