Kyra Kimpton

Kyra is a performer, creator and disabled artist with a passion for the full gamut of performed mediums and the social power of art. Kyra is currently one of No Strings Attached's 'next crop' artists in Preparing the Garden. She is also a long term member and tutor for Restless Dance Theatre and is studying Drama and Screen Theory at Flinders University.

Over the past four years Kyra has been involved in a number of independent projects including dance, film, instillation and theatre. She co-directed Blink (short dance film nominated for both SASA '09 and SALA '09 awards), and choreographed and performed in The Forest (winner Best Performing Arts/Music award SASA '07). Her current involvement includes Beauty with the Restless Dance Company Professional Ensemble, and independent projects Take Up Thy Bed and Walk and Prelude, a collaboration with UK based choreographer Jemima Hoadley.

Kyra has been a member of the Restless Dance Theatre youth ensemble for the past three years, performing in the company's productions Bedroom Dancing (2009), Necessary Games (2009) (a short film co-produced by Closer Productions and winner of four South Australian Screen Awards), Debut (2008), The Heart of Another is a Dark (2008), Rebel Rebel (2007) and Continual Unfolding of Now (2006). She has served two years as a Dancers Representative on the Restless Board of Management and works regularly with the education team.
