Edwin Kemp Attrill
Edwin Kemp Attrill, 20, from Adelaide, is a freelance theatre artist and Artistic Director of ActNow Theatre for Social Change. His acting credits include My Sister Violet (2005), Prayer to an Iron God (2007), and a tour to India of The Pirate's Ship (2009). As a director he has worked in a variety of settings including with young offenders, emerging actors, activists, African refugees and migrants, and people with physical/intellectual disabilities. He has directed productions including Nineteen Eighty Four (2008), The Revolution Starts Here (2009) and Black White and Red All Over (2009) for the Horsham Awakenings Festival. He has been described as the '2007 Best Young Performer' and the '2008 Best Young Director' in the Sunday Mail, was a finalist in the 2009 Young Achievers Award (Arts Category) and semi finalist in the 2008 and 2010 awards, and received an emerging artist commendation in the 2008 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
Edwin is a current participant in the '2009-10 Young Social Pioneers' program through Foundation for Young Australians, holds a Diploma in Theatre Arts through the University of Victoria, and a Certificate IV in Community Development through Port Adelaide TAFE. He currently sits on the boards of ActNow Theatre for Social Change and Urban Myth Theatre of Youth.
