Alison Currie

(BA Dance Performance, Adelaide Centre for the Arts, 2003)

Alison's recent work 42a received independent triennial project funding from Arts SA 2008-2010, and premiered at the Experimental Art Foundation, June 2008. She interned with The Builders Association media and performance company, NYC in 2005. Solon Ulbrich has been a mentor to her work since 2002.

A 2004 Helpmann Academy mentorship between Alison and Amanda Phillips has lead to her continuing work as a performer and rehearsal director in Australia and China.

In 2004 and 2005 Alison performed with Restless Dance Company on Sustenance directed by Kat Worth and Daisy Brown, and Vocabulary, a Restless collaboration with ADT directed by Garry Stewart.

Alison has worked with independent choreographers Peter Sheedy, Jo Lloyd, Naida Chinner, Adam Synnott, Gala Moody, Ana Grosse, Gavin Clarke, Daniel Jaber, Gemma Faulk, Veronica Shum, Rachel Manik, Jose Gonzalez, Carlie Angel, Michael Carter, Catherine Smith, Rebecca Hilton and Daniel Louie. In 2006 she received the Outlet Dance Award.

She has tutored with No Strings Attached, 2006-2008, and partnered Anton Sagrillo to create Platform 1, one of four theatre duets in Tempted (2007).
